Originally started in 2009, named Babes in Tellico (BIT) and founded by Patty Warner and Lynn Burns.
Their story:
The idea for Babes in Tellico (BIT) sparked from two different places.
After completing their term in New Villagers, the decision was made to start a women's club in order to continue events and outings.
Second, and most importantly, it was about health and connection. As Lynn beautifully put it during our very first meeting: “Women connect with each other differently, providing a unique support system to navigate stress and life's challenges. Spending quality ‘girlfriend time’ actually boosts our serotonin, helping combat depression and promoting overall well-being.”
With that, BIT was born—a monthly toast to friendship and sisterhood! The first meeting was held at Naples Restaurant, a Knoxville classic in Bearden, since closed.
Around 2012, the club's name was changed to Ladies of the Lake (LOL).
